The Joyce Van Lines Story

Joyce Moving & Storage, Inc. was established in 1981 by William H. Joyce. Will began as a small, local business and leased a modest warehouse on Canal Street in Stamford, CT. An award-winning driver, Will brought to his startup company two trucks, a good business mind, a strong sense of determination, and a work ethic that would be the foundation of his success.


The company became known for exceptional service and with increased demand, expanded in 1986. Joyce purchased their first warehouse and office facility at 52 Dyke Lane, Stamford, CT. The company obtained 48-state authority as a motor carrier. Just four years into its existence, Joyce was now a nationwide carrier of household goods, office furniture, trade shows, high value products, and other commodities.


In 1989, Joyce built a custom 70,000 square foot service center in Oxford, CT. This facility today houses Joyce of New England, Inc. and the company’s east coast operations.


In 1991, Joyce Van Lines, Inc., was incorporated in Indianapolis, Indiana. Motivated by the deregulation of the moving industry (now moving into its third decade) and with the consolidation of conventional van line services, Will Joyce shifted his commitment towards improving the company's quality of service. We work hard to assure each client that every shipment handled by Joyce Van Lines, Inc. will be controlled and moved on a Joyce vehicle, with a Joyce crew to pack and haul. This is our commitment nationwide, and is the foundation of our services today.


Based on client needs, the demand for high quality service, and an organized business plan, Joyce has expanded into other markets around the country. Because of his commitment to quality and customer service, Will considered it important to develop company-owned facilities nationwide to ensure that high service levels would be maintained and controlled. As a result, Joyce now operates full-service moving and storage companies in Connecticut, New York, Florida, Massachusetts, Indiana, Texas, and California.


Will Joyce purchased a 54,700 sq. ft. climate-controlled warehouse facility in Ft. Myers, Florida in late 2017, expanding the company’s southern capabilities for storage and hauling.


It is the goal of Joyce Van Lines, Inc., to establish mutually beneficial relationships throughout our business dealings and with the community. We are excited about our future as we aggressively add proven professionals to the strong family of Joyce personnel around the country. We look forward to working with you!
